Stepped Reckoner was developed by German mathematician Gottfried Wilhelm Von Leibniz in 1694. It was the modified version of pascaline.It was the first mechanical calculator that could perform all four arithmetic operation that are addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.The numbers were moved in steps from one column to other for calculations and for moving the numbers it used a movable carriage system this made long multiplication and division possible.
